The variety is a leafy form of Cichorium intybus. The plant forms a rosette that closes into a head 20–30 cm in height during growth. The leaves have a cream-white or light green hue with characteristic wine-red or purple spots.

The maturity period is from 90 to 150 days. The variety is distinguished by its hardiness and ability to withstand light night frosts. To improve taste and reduce bitterness before harvesting, a blanching technique is used, which consists of shielding the plants from light at the end of the vegetation period.
