The variety is mid-season or late-maturing; the period from emergence to technical maturity ranges from 80–90 to 120–140 days. The plant reaches a height of 15–30 cm and forms dense heads resembling iceberg lettuce. The leaves are broad, crisp, with pronounced white-pink or red-white variegation and white midribs.
The plant is notable for its hardiness and ability to withstand low temperatures. Leaf coloration intensity increases with shortening daylight hours and decreasing air temperatures. Agricultural practice suggests summer sowing, as spring sowing dates may induce premature bolting.
The variety is versatile in use: the leaves are consumed fresh in salads, and are also suitable for preparing soups, pasta, risotto, and grilling. Cultivation is possible both in the open field and with forcing in dark rooms.
