Trees of the Owari variety are relatively short, which allows them to be grown in containers and small gardens. The crop is one of the most cold-hardy among citrus fruits and is capable of withstanding short-term frosts down to –7 °C.

The fruits have a flattened or subglobose shape. The thin, loose peel is easily separated from the juicy and tender flesh. The variety matures in the autumn period, usually in November–December. The plant is used both for fresh consumption and for industrial processing, for example, canning.
