The mandarin variety SALTEÑITA is considered in scientific literature primarily as genetic material for breeding programs. It is studied in the context of developing methods for obtaining seedless citrus varieties.

The plant is a self-compatible variety with the manifestation of vegetative parthenocarpy, meaning it is capable of setting fruit without pollination. At the same time, the variety is characterized as seed-forming. It is also known that the variety is not prone to forming tetraploid seedlings during chromosomal doubling of nucellar cells.
