The plant has a compact or dense canopy without a weeping form. First-year branches are smooth, older ones are striated; the presence of thorns is not a constant trait.

The fruits are round with a leathery rind, the color of which varies from yellow to reddish-orange. The navel is absent, the flesh is orange, and the taste is sweet and sour. Under California conditions, the fruit ripening period falls between March and July.
