The Valencia Puka variety is the result of a spontaneous bud mutation of the orange variety Valencia. A distinctive feature of the fruit is the accumulation of lycopene in the flesh, which gives it a specific pinkish-red shade.

The biochemical profile of the fruit is characterized by an increased concentration of carotenoids in both the peel and the flesh compared to the classic Valencia variety. The variety belongs to the late maturity group.
