The variety belongs to the Jackmanii group, which is characterized by abundant flowering on current-year shoots and high winter hardiness. The plant is oriented toward harsh winters and allows for low pruning to 15–30 cm above ground level.

The breeding program under which the variety was developed is aimed at creating compact plants suitable for cultivation in containers and small gardens. Clematis is often used for decorating structures near the house, which is reflected in the variety name, meaning "home stairs."
