The variety is a spontaneous mutation selected from seedlings of Cordyline australis 'Purpurea'. The plant is characterized by an architectural form and the ability to maintain intense leaf coloration for a long time.

In cultivation, the plant reaches a height of approximately 2.5 meters. The variety is used in landscape design as an accent element, as well as a container plant that requires protection from severe frost in cold climates.
