Variety description

10 August 2026

The name is often applied to various purple-leaved forms, including the Zellernus variety. The plants reach 3–6 meters in height and have heart-shaped leaves that retain a dark red, burgundy, or purple hue under sufficient sunlight. In the shade, the foliage acquires a greenish tone.

The plant produces edible nuts with dark skin. To ensure fruiting, cross-pollination with other hazel forms or varieties is required. The crop prefers fertile, well-drained soils and possesses relative winter hardiness.
