The plant reaches a height of 4–6 meters with a crown diameter of about 4 meters. In spring, the foliage is bright purple or dark burgundy, and in summer, it may acquire a bronze tint. Flowering occurs from February to April; the male catkins have a pinkish-red or burgundy hue, while the female flowers are distinguished by bright red stigmas.
The nuts have an oblong or broadly elliptical flattened shape with a reddish-brown shell and a burgundy husk. The variety is partially self-fertile and begins bearing fruit in 3–4 years. The crop possesses high winter hardiness, is resistant to drought and wind, and is suitable for use as a solitary plant or for the production of edible nuts.
