The variety is the result of natural selection in the Piedmont region. It is a tree or shrub of medium vigor with a semi-spreading crown. Fruits ripen from late August to September.

Nuts are medium-sized, weighing about 2.6 g, with a round shape and a thin, light-brown shell. Kernel weight is about 1.2 g with a kernel percentage of 45.5–58%. The variety is sensitive to certain pests, particularly the hazelnut bud mite.

To obtain a harvest, the variety requires cross-pollinators. Due to their shape and taste characteristics, the fruits are in demand in the confectionery industry.
