The plant is used primarily as a rootstock for pear and quince saplings. It promotes moderate growth vigor of the grafted varieties and their early entry into fruiting. As an independent tree or shrub, it reaches about 4 meters in height.

The variety propagates well vegetatively by layering and cuttings. It has low sensitivity to woolly aphid, however, it is demanding regarding soils — it poorly tolerates heavy clay and excessively calcareous sites. It is also characterized by sensitivity to severe frosts and extreme temperatures.

Although the plant is capable of producing yellow fruits suitable for culinary processing, the main purpose of its cultivation is the production of rootstock material. There are various clonal selections of this type, for example EMA.
