The rootstock is used in fruit growing to improve the characteristics of pear trees. It has a specific influence on the vigor of the scion, occupying an intermediate position between MC and MA rootstocks.
Studies note an increased resistance of trees grafted onto this rootstock to the phytoplasma that causes 'pear decline'. The rootstock has also been studied for its adaptation to calcareous soils and resistance to bicarbonate-induced iron deficiency.
