The variety Tomcat 1 is a hexaploid with a semi-erect growth habit at the time of inflorescence emergence. The plant height ranges from low to medium, and the leaves are characterized by a dark green color and narrow shape.

The plant possesses pronounced winter hardiness and drought tolerance, as well as high resistance to rust infection. The variety shows a strong tendency to form inflorescences in the year of sowing; the time of heading in the second year is assessed as medium.
