The Festum variety is an interspecific hybrid obtained by crossing tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) and Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum). The plant has an upright habit; stem height can reach 160 cm.
This variety belongs to the mid-early maturity group and is distinguished by its ability to rapidly regrow after mowing. The crop possesses resistance to high temperatures and drought, maintaining productivity for three years or more.
The purpose of the variety is hay harvesting and use for green fodder production. In breeding literature, the variety is mentioned as an example of the application of the amphidiploidization method.
