The FA-234 rootstock is intended for use in citrus cultivation to modify the characteristics of grafted trees. It contributes to a reduction in canopy volume compared to rootstocks such as Citrus volkameriana or Carrizo. The selection of this hybrid is aimed at increasing fruiting efficiency, as well as evaluating the impact on juice quality and sugar content in the scion fruits.

The plant possesses tolerance to Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) and resistance to Phytophthora spp. The rootstock was developed for adaptation to unfavorable soil conditions, including calcareous and saline soils, as well as for increasing tree endurance during periods of waterlogging or moisture deficit.
