The variety is a slow-growing shrub reaching 1–1.5 meters in 10–20 years. The plant is characterized by twisted, contorted branches and large, downward-curved thorns. The leaves are trifoliate and deciduous in winter.
The plant has high frost resistance and withstands temperatures down to -25°C, while being undemanding regarding soil conditions provided there is drainage. The fruits are small, fuzzy, greenish-yellow, and ripen in autumn. Due to the high content of seeds, acid, and bitterness, they are practically not consumed raw, but are suitable for jams or as decoration.
In agriculture, the variety is valued as a dwarfing rootstock, which allows for restricting the growth of grafted crops and accelerating their entry into fruiting. In landscape design, it is used as a specimen plant or for forming impenetrable hedges.
