The C-35 rootstock has a moderate dwarfing effect: trees on it are 15–25% smaller than on the 'Carrizo' rootstock, which allows it to be used for high-density orchards. The plant is characterized by high resistance to the citrus tristeza virus, Phytophthora, and the citrus nematode.

C-35 is more tolerant to high pH soils compared to other citranges, however, it may be subject to chlorosis in highly alkaline areas and is not recommended for heavy clay soils. Trees grafted onto it show high yields and fruit with high sugar and acid levels.

It is used exclusively as a rootstock for growing commercial varieties of oranges, mandarins, and other citrus fruits. Grafted trees show good stability, although with age there may be a tendency for the lower branches to die back.
