Variety description

The shrub reaches a height of 1.2 to 1.75 m (sometimes up to 4 m). Young leaves have a chocolate hue on the top and a dark burgundy color on the bottom. The lacecap-type inflorescences consist of violet-blue fertile flowers in the center and pink sterile flowers on the edges.

The flowering period lasts from July to September. The variety is winter hardy (USDA zone 6b, down to -18°C...-21°C). The plant is demanding regarding soil moisture, does not tolerate drying out and requires protection; mulching is recommended during planting.

Used in ornamental gardening, well-suited for placement in the backgrounds of flower beds and on the edges of wooded areas.
