Variety description

The shrub has a spreading, upright form, reaching heights from 0.9–1.2 m to 2.5–3.5 m. Large lanceolate or narrow-ovate leaves up to 25 cm long are covered with velvety pubescence. The color of the leaf blade is dark green on top and reddish-purple on the bottom.

The inflorescences are flat lacy corymbs consisting of small fertile flowers of a lilac-purple shade and larger sterile flowers of a pink or pinkish-lilac color. Flowering continues from July to September.

The plant has moderate winter hardiness down to -24°C; in severe frosts, shoots may freeze back with subsequent recovery. The variety prefers partial shade and is used in landscape design as a solitaire plant or in group plantings.
