Variety description

The plant has a medium-sized habit with a spreading crown. The leaves are broad, large and covered with pubescence, which creates a characteristic roughness. The inflorescences are abundant, consisting of purple fertile flowers and white sterile flowers on the edges.

The variety is a wild-growing form found in the mountain forests of Taiwan. For cultivation, sites in partial shade with moist, well-drained soils are preferred, requiring protection from strong cold winds.
