Variety description

The variety forms an upright, spreading shrub. Leaves are large, oak-shaped, grayish-green in spring, dark green in summer, and brick-red in autumn. Mature branches are distinguished by decorative exfoliating bark with a reddish hue.

Inflorescences are paniculate, 20–30 cm long, consisting primarily of sterile white flowers that eventually take on pink shades. The flowering period lasts from late spring to mid-summer.

The plant belongs to USDA hardiness zones 5–9, prefers moist, well-drained soils, and possesses resistance to air pollution in urban conditions. The variety is also known by the synonym «Wade Mahlke».
