Variety description

The shrub reaches a height of 1.2–2 m with a comparable width. Young shoots have a golden-yellow hue and slight pubescence, while old stems are characterized by peeling cinnamon-colored bark. The large leaves resemble oak leaves in shape and are characterized by pronounced autumn coloration in red and purple tones.

Paniculate inflorescences 25–30 cm long bloom in June and can persist until September–October. At the beginning of flowering, they are creamy white, later they turn pink, and by autumn they become purple-red. The variety is winter-hardy down to -25...-28°C, however, young plants may need protection in severe winters.
