Variety description

The variety was discovered on Mount Horai in Japan. Unlike the flat corymbose inflorescences typical for the species, this variety forms dense, rounded "mophead" type inflorescences. The flowers are white, unusually large for this species, and the foliage is also relatively large.

The height of the shrub reaches approximately 0.75 meters. Due to the large size of the inflorescences and leaves, there is a hypothesis about the hybrid origin of the variety involving Hydrangea macrophylla. Flowering can be irregular; inflorescences are located only on the tips of the shoots.
