Nagaba-Amacha originates from the central part of Honshu island. The variety name translates as "long-leaved sweet hydrangea," which reflects both the morphological features of the plant in the form of elongated leaves and its economic use as a raw material for preparing the sweet tea ama-cha.
The plant is a local variety selected for the flavor qualities of its leaves and is traditionally used in religious ceremonies dedicated to the birthday of Buddha. Official agronomic indicators, such as bush height or resistance to external factors, are absent in specialized databases.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
