Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a Japanese discovery found on Mount Hachibuse. The plant forms a compact bush, the height of which usually does not exceed 1 meter. The inflorescences are of the lacecap type and are distinguished by sterile double flowers with long, broad-lanceolate sepals, creating a star-like flowering effect.

The flower color depends on soil acidity: on highly acidic soils they acquire a blue hue, while on less acidic ones they become pink or purple. The plant has good winter hardiness and prefers well-drained and moist soils. Flowering occurs on previous year's shoots; therefore, the variety does not require radical pruning.

In landscape design, the hydrangea is used in single and group plantings, as well as in rock gardens, and is suitable for cut flowers.
