The plant is a compact, upright shrub 100–150 cm tall with a dense spherical crown. Ovate-elongated dark green leaves turn a crimson hue in autumn. Flowering begins in June and lasts until October; buds form on current-year shoots.

Inflorescences 15–20 cm in diameter consist of small central fertile flowers and large double sterile flowers surrounding them. The frost resistance of the variety corresponds to USDA zone 5. The shrub prefers partial shade, wind-protected areas, and moist, humus-rich, well-drained soils.
