The variety is a low, wide shrub with a height of 50 to 80 cm, sometimes reaching 1.5 m depending on growing conditions. The plant has a characteristic spreading habit.
The flat-shaped inflorescences consist of central fertile flowers framed by a ring of sterile flowers. Flowering continues from June to August, in some cases until October. The intensity of the blue shade of the flowers depends on soil acidity.
The plant is characterized by high winter hardiness and is adapted for cultivation in partial shade on moderately moist humus soils. It is used in landscape design for creating borders, group plantings, and container cultivation.
