The variety is a diploid Italian ryegrass, sometimes classified as annual. It is intended for use in forage systems for dairy and beef cattle farming.

The plant is characterized by medium-late maturity and high resistance to rust. The variety demonstrates high green mass yield indicators, as well as good nutritional and digestibility parameters.

There is a development of the variety called «Surrey II», selected for increased forage mass and seed yield. A separate variety «Surrey Nova» is distinguished, which belongs to Westerwold ryegrass.
