The variety is tetraploid (4n = 28 chromosomes) and was obtained through selection from populations selected in Texas. The plant is distinguished by high stature, developed tillering, and broad leaves. The variety is characterized by an early or medium maturity group.
The plant is adapted to various soil types, including loams and sandy loams, and is capable of withstanding short-term flooding. It possesses resistance to crown rust and frost. It ensures consistently high dry matter yield with good nutritional indicators.
The variety is used as a forage crop for livestock grazing, haymaking, and silage production. It is effective for overseeding into existing pastures to provide a forage base during winter and early spring periods, and it is also used as part of forage mixtures.
