The variety is a bud mutation of the Fuji variety, selected in Akita Prefecture, Japan. It belongs to the group of late-maturing varieties but differs from the original type by an earlier ripening period.

The fruits are characterized by a striped red coloration and flavor qualities close to the Fuji variety. Genetically, the variety possesses the S1S9 pollen incompatibility type.

The plant is used in commercial and amateur horticulture for the production of dessert-purpose fruits.
