The variety is traditional to the Province of Cuneo and the area of the Barge municipality. It is preserved as part of the region's biological diversity and is used primarily in ecologically oriented fruit growing and collections for the maintenance of genetic resources.

The fruits of the variety are characterized by an intense red color. The variety belongs to the autumn category, possesses adaptation to the conditions of the mountainous and foothill areas of Piedmont, and exceeds some commercial varieties in the level of antioxidant activity.
