BELFIORE is a local Italian variety that is valuable for the preservation of biodiversity. In particular, the Decio di Belfiore variety has flattened fruit, green coloration with a pink blush, which appears under the influence of the sun or during ripening on straw.

Fruits of this variety are characterized by firm white flesh and high acidity at the time of harvest in November. Due to the intense aroma, the apples were historically used to scent rooms. The variety is characterized by alternate bearing.

In literature, the name BELFIORE is sometimes erroneously identified with the Belle-fleur variety, which has a different Dutch origin and is an independent variety.
