The DI SAN GIACOMO variety, also known as mela di San Giacomo, originates from the Castelnuovo — Maniago — Pinzano area in the province of Pordenone. In different districts of the region, the variety is found under local names Mela di Sant’Anna, Blancòns, and Mela di San Giovanni.
The plant belongs to ancient local varieties characterized by high longevity: specimens over 80 years old are found. The fruits are used in cooking and for fresh consumption.
