The variety originated in the Altes Land region of Germany before 1840. The tree has weak to medium vigor and forms a wide crown. The variety is distinguished by wind resistance and high yield, which, however, is characterized by pronounced biennial bearing.
The fruits are medium to large, flat-round, often ribbed, with smooth greenish-yellow skin and a red blush. The flesh is greenish-white, sweet-sour. Harvesting takes place in October, and the fruits are suitable for consumption from December or February until June.
The variety is primarily a processing type intended for baking, making juices and mousses. Disease resistance is generally good, although cases of powdery mildew occur.
