The Giachetta variety is autochthonous to the mountainous and hilly regions of Piedmont, where the trees have historically adapted to local conditions. It belongs to the category of old or forgotten apple varieties.
Studies of the biochemical composition of the fruits confirm a significant content of antioxidants, including their presence in the flesh. The variety is not considered suitable for intensive commercial fruit growing due to the characteristics of productivity, commercial appearance, and shelf life of the fruits.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
