The fruits of this variety are covered with a rich dark red blush over the entire surface. When exposed to direct sunlight or in a state of overripeness, a bronze tint may appear on the skin. The fruit flesh is firm and juicy, retaining the taste characteristics of the Jonagold group.

The variety is a winter one and ripens about a week earlier than the original Jonagold form, while demonstrating excellent keeping quality. Like other Jonagold derivatives, the variety needs protection against fungal diseases such as powdery mildew and scab. The size of the tree is regulated by the type of rootstock used.
