The variety was obtained as a result of a bud mutation of the Jonagold variety. The tree is medium-sized, forming a wide, dense crown. The fruits have a round-conical shape and an average weight of 170–260 g. The surface of the fruit is up to 90% covered with a dark red or carmine blush, often with a waxy bloom and light dots. The flesh is yellowish, juicy, crunchy, and has a pronounced aroma.

The variety belongs to the winter group; harvest maturity occurs in the third ten-day period of September. It possesses good winter hardiness and increased resistance to diseases. Since the variety is triploid, it cannot be a pollinator for other apple trees; to obtain a yield, pollinator varieties such as Gala, Elstar, Idared, Pinova, Topaz, Bohemia, or Celeste are required.

The fruits are suitable for long-term storage; under certain conditions, they retain their commercial quality until May. The variety has high transportability and is used in industrial and amateur gardening both for fresh consumption and for processing into juice or culinary use.
