The tree is moderately vigorous with a spreading crown, fruiting primarily on spurs. The variety is self-incompatible and requires pollinators. Fruits have a round shape, a pale green ground color with a bright red, almost burgundy blush and light lenticels on the skin.

The fruit flesh is cream-colored, soft in consistency, juicy and sweet. The variety matures later than McIntosh and surpasses it in storage duration. It is characterized by high susceptibility to powdery mildew and fire blight; a tendency of the fruits to bitter pit has also been noted.
