King Roat Red Delicious is a mutation of the Red Delicious variety with a semi-compact tree type. The fruits have an oblong symmetrical shape and are completely covered with an intense dark red glossy blush, which appears earlier than in the parent variety. The tree matures in winter, with harvest time occurring at the end of September and the beginning of October.

Storage of King Roat Red Delicious fruits is possible in a regular refrigerator until February or until the end of June under controlled atmosphere conditions. In horticulture, the name King Delicious has also historically been applied to designate various clonal mutations of the Red Delicious group, such as Starking.

A separate variety named King is a clone of Jonagold and does not belong to the Delicious group. Its fruits have a mass of 170–220 grams and are characterized by the presence of yellow, firm, and juicy flesh.
