The King George V variety is a dessert apple tree derived from the Cox’s Orange Pippin variety. The fruit ripening period falls in mid-October. The fruits are medium-sized, broadly round-conical in shape, with greenish-yellow skin and a striped orange blush. The flesh is cream-colored, firm, fine-grained, moderately juicy, with a sweet-and-sour taste and a distinct aroma. The variety is self-incompatible and belongs to pollination group D.

The name King George is also used as a synonym for the ancient Borsdorfer variety. The fruits of this variety range from small to medium, have a round-flattened shape, and a shiny, waxy, pale-yellow skin with a red blush and prominent lenticels. The flesh is white, crisp, juicy, and sweet, with a characteristic hint of cinnamon.
