The variety was discovered as a chance seedling in 1893 in the state of Arkansas, USA. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth, early entry into fruiting, and regular yields. The variety possesses high adaptability to various climatic conditions, including hot regions.

Fruits are medium-sized, round or round-conical in shape. The flesh is yellowish, firm, and juicy. The variety is for multipurpose use: the fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, culinary processing, and cider production; their storage life is 1–2 months.

The variety possesses resistance to a number of diseases, in particular to fire blight, however, potential susceptibility to scab is noted.
