The variety is the result of breeding by James Hutton Kidd and was previously known as Delco. The tree is of moderate vigor with a vertically spreading crown, fruiting primarily on spurs. The variety is partially self-fertile and requires pollinators.

Fruits are medium to large in size, round-conical, with a yellow skin and an intense orange-red blush, often featuring reticulated russeting. The flesh is cream-white, firm, juicy, and crisp. The variety is classified as late-summer or early-winter and is suitable for fresh consumption, juice production, and cider.

The variety possesses relative resistance to scab and powdery mildew, but is highly susceptible to canker, and is therefore not recommended for regions with excessive humidity. In case of crop overload, fruits become smaller, and the tree's productivity in subsequent years decreases.
