The variety is considered very old, possibly existing since Roman times. In international pomological literature, it is often associated with the variety «Court Pendu Plat» and a multitude of regional synonyms, such as «Roter Kurzstiel». The trees are characterized as hardy and healthy, but small, with late flowering that allows avoiding spring frosts.

The fruits are small or medium-sized, most often of a flat, round, or slightly rectangular shape. The skin varies from greenish to bright red. The flesh is firm and juicy, possessing a wine-like or spicy aroma. The variety is a winter type: the consumption period lasts from December to April; with proper storage, the quality is maintained until June.
