The variety is classified as a folk and authentic one, widely known in certain regions of Slovenia, for example, in Goriška. The variety is included in the official variety lists of Slovenia as a traditional apple tree.

The plant is characterized by longevity and natural resistance to diseases and pests, due to which it often does not require chemical treatment. Detailed morphological characteristics of fruits, flowering dates, and tree sizes are not detailed in publications.

The name is regional, so in different areas, it may imply similar but differing varieties. In the agricultural registers of Slovenia, this term is officially assigned specifically to the apple tree.
