The variety is a local Portuguese cultivar that is studied and preserved as part of the genetic heritage of regional biodiversity. Data on breeding, parental forms, maturity group, plant height, and disease resistance are absent.

Fruits are distinguished by a high total sugar content, amounting to more than 80 percent on a dry weight basis, while the variety possesses the highest level of acidity among the studied regional varieties.
