The variety MD03UNIBO (commercial name Bernina) is the result of crossing the varieties Primiera and Cripps Pink. The tree is characterized by moderate vigor and a semi-spur type crown, demonstrating medium or high productivity.

The fruits have a medium size of about 200 grams, smooth skin without russeting and a pink blush on 70–80% of the surface. The firm, crunchy and juicy flesh has a sweet-and-sour taste. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to scab and rosy apple aphid, but is susceptible to powdery mildew.
