The variety is the result of breeding work carried out at the Polli Horticultural Research Centre. The crossing of the parent forms 'Antonovka' and 'Akerö' was performed in 1946; selection of the variety dates back to 1957.

Belongs to the group of winter varieties. The variety underwent trials on various rootstocks to evaluate yield and tree habit characteristics. Publications mention it in the context of scab resistance research, however, no detailed data on disease resistance is provided.

Traditionally used in Estonian horticulture and is currently maintained as part of apple genetic resources. Commercial propagation of the variety has not been conducted in recent years due to the emergence of more productive varieties.
