The tree is vigorous, reaching a height of 6–8 meters when grown on vigorous rootstocks. The variety is sensitive to climatic conditions and soil, and is susceptible to scab. To obtain a high-quality yield, placement in protected sunny areas or training on trellises is recommended.

Fruits are large or very large, with a characteristic angular ribbed shape. The skin at harvest is yellowish-green, later acquiring a pale yellow hue, sometimes with a red blush. The flesh is white, loose, very juicy and tender, with a sweet-and-sour taste and a specific spicy aroma.

Harvest maturity occurs in October. The variety is primarily for dessert use for fresh consumption, and is also suitable for culinary processing. This historical variety should be distinguished from 'Snezny Kalvil' (White Winter Calville), which is an independent variety.
