The historical variety, described by C. Matthiesen and known as Landet Rosenæble, has elongated fruits with a dry, glossy, almost white skin covered with large dots and a bright scarlet-red blush with dark stripes. The white, fine-textured flesh with a pinkish tint is juicy and has a sweet-and-sour taste.

The modern variety, represented in the Pometet collection, likely originates from the island of Funen and is genetically close to Cox Orange and Indslevæble. Its medium to large-sized fruits ripen in September-October, possess a good sweet-and-sour taste with aroma, and are characterized by resistance to scab.
